Makro CZ and Metro SK Network

2001

For Makro Cash & Carry, I take care of the network infrastructure of the head offices in Prague and Bratislava, wholesale stores, logistics platforms, and drive-in pickup points in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia – managing Cisco switches, routers, and access points, resolving operational issues, and designing and implementing changes.

WAN network redesign in the Czech Republic and Slovakia (2006): analysis, topology mapping, inventory, and support for migrating branches to new connectivity providers,
new core network for the Prague head office with Cisco Catalyst 6509 (2007–2008), migration from CatOS to IOS, new DMZ setup,
administrator authentication via TACACS+ and Wi-Fi user authentication via 802.1X/PEAP with Cisco Secure ACS,
backup ISDN lines, HSRP, OSPF, VTP, GRE tunnels CZ–SK, QoS, rollout of new VLANs across the network,
alignment of configurations with the standards of the parent group Metro,
network preparation for an IP telephony pilot,
management tools: configuration archiving in RANCID, CiscoWorks LMS, NeDi, Cacti, custom software for monitoring switch port occupancy and utilization, automated file transfers to the group’s SFTP server (mgi-xfer), internal wiki.
